Bobcats and LadyCats Have Big Game Friday!!
District - LadyCats 4-1 and Bobcats 2-1
January 14, 2010
Over the past week the Newcastle Bobcats have won both games and the LadyCats won one and lost their first district game but the BIG game comes this Friday, Janaury 15th at Gordon! A victory at Gordon for both Cat teams will go a long way toward a spot in the district playoff picture! The LadyCats' 39-30 loss at Strawn put the LadyCats in a position they really didn't want or need to be in - a desire need for a win on the road! Gordon is not an easy place to play and it is always a struggle to beat the 7 opponents on the floor at one time but it needs to be done!
The Bobcats moved their district record to 2-1 with the 52-35 victory over Moran Tuesday night. Friday night the Bobcats defeated the Strawn Greyhounds by a score of 39-35. Those road victories are going to become real important toward the end of district play and the more you can get the better your chances of getting to the playoffs! The Bobcat scoring at Strawn was rather strange in that only 4 Bobcats put points in the book. Nic Libby earned the high point honors with 16 and Brandon Bailey added another 12. Michael had 3 field goals for 6 points and Casey had 5 points. Tuesday night's game with Moran the Bobcats only had one player in double figures - Casey Terrell had 18 points.
The LadyCats scored an amazing 94 points Tuesday night against the 28 points for the Moran Lady Bulldogs. It would have been real nice if the LadyCats could have made a few of those baskets Friday night at Strawn. Haily Kramer was high point for the LadyCats during the Strawn game with 14 points. Tara added 7 and Kimber 6. But Tuesday night we had 6 that's right SIX LadyCats in double figures! Tara and Haily tied for high point with 16 points each. Kimber added 14 with 3 - three-pointers! Amy Clayborn and Courtney Spitzer added 12 points each and then Courtney Bailey had 10 points. Latisha and Jenna put in 5 points each and Darcy Lewelling had 4 points. Now that's what we're praying for tomorrow night against the Lady Longhorns from Gordon.
The game tomorrow night will tip off in Gordon at 6:30 pm and I hope that as many folks as possible will come support our LadyCats and Bobcats! This is an important game for playoff considerations.
